Ho'ble Minister of State (I/C) Petroleum & Natural Gas, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan launched Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana in Srinagar, Uttarakhand on June 9th, 2016. Speaking on the occasion Shri Pradhan highlighted the difficulties of BPL women in Uttarakhand ;who have to travel far to collect firewood and risk their & their families' health in smoke filled kitchens. Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana will not only relieve them of the burden of firewood collection & give them smoke free households but will also contribute greatly towards reducing deforestation & preserving the environment , which has been an essential concern of the people of Uttarakhand.
